Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Meets with US Treasury Secretary Bessent
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is visiting her country.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi shared details of her meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on her social media account. Takaichi noted that this was Bessent's 56th visit to Japan, stating, "I expressed my pleasure at Bessent's visit and conveyed my expectation for further strengthening of cooperation between the finance ministers of the two countries, including the G20, where the US holds the presidency this year."

Addressing the topics discussed during the meeting, Takaichi said, "I evaluated the necessary steps to enhance the resilience of Japan-US supply chains and to minimize risks arising from the latest artificial intelligence models. We also exchanged views on the situations and various issues facing the Indo-Pacific region."

Takaichi noted that global and regional dynamics were also discussed, stating, "During these talks, Treasury Secretary Bessent provided information on the latest developments in US-China relations. Through such close collaborations, we will take the Japan-US alliance to much higher levels."
