Mukhtar Babayev: Holding of First General Assembly of Global South NGO Platform is an indication that this vision has become a reality

“Today's meeting is not only an institutional milestone, but also a continuation of the spirit of solidarity, dialogue and cooperation that emerged during COP29 in Azerbaijan, in creating the Global South. Simultaneously, it reflects Azerbaijan's ongoing commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation and creating inclusive international platforms for dialogue and practical action,” said Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Climate Issues, during the First General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform on the sidelines of Baku Urban Week.

According to him, this platform is more than just a place for dialogue; it is a force for action.

“The holding of the General Assembly in Baku today is a clear indication that this vision has become a reality. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all NGOs, volunteers, experts and civil society representatives who contributed to the success of COP29. Your role was truly decisive. From the consolidation of ideas and proposals to the awareness-raising activities carried out in the Green Zone and various pavilions, civil society has made a significant contribution to building trust, dialogue and inclusiveness during the COP29 process.”
