US: Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz
US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated, “Iran's military capabilities have been significantly weakened by US and Israeli airstrikes, but Tehran continues to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.”

US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper spoke at a session titled 'Conflict with Iran and Military Readiness in Africa' organized by the Senate Armed Services Committee, alongside US Africa Command (AFRICOM) Commander General Dagvin Anderson. Cooper noted that more than 1,450 attacks were carried out by the US and Israel on Iran's weapons production facilities, claiming that these attacks destroyed over 85% of Iran's ballistic missile, drone, and naval industry base.

Cooper argued that Iran's military capabilities have been significantly weakened as a result of US and Israeli airstrikes, but reported that Tehran continues to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz. Cooper stated, “US forces have destroyed more than 90% of Iran's inventory of 8,000 naval mines, preventing their deployment in the strait. However, Iran still possesses some capabilities that could threaten ships.”
