Death toll rises to 18 due to floods in South Africa
The death toll from the severe rain and storm that has been affecting South Africa since last week has risen to 18.

In a statement from the South African Ministry of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, it was reported that 18 people have died in the storm affecting a large part of the country, with 11 in Western Cape, 3 in Northern Cape, 2 in Free State, and one each in North West and Mpumalanga provinces. A statement from the Western Cape provincial government noted that more than 150,000 people were affected by the storm across the province, particularly in the Garden Route area, with thousands left homeless.
