Opposition Leader Eisenkot in Israel: We Aim to Form the Broadest Possible Government
In Israel, opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot stated that the majority of voters in the elections voted against the current government, aiming to form the broadest possible government and pass critical laws with a parliamentary majority.

Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot stated in a social media post that following the elections held on Tuesday, they have secured a majority in parliament and intend to form the broadest possible government. In the 120-seat parliament, Eisenkot's opposition bloc won 48 seats, while the coalition bloc led by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu remained at 53 seats.

Eisenkot noted that Israeli voters cast their votes against the Netanyahu government with a margin of over half a million votes. This majority calculation by Eisenkot includes the total 19 seats won by the Joint List, a coalition of three parties strongly opposing Netanyahu, and the Ra'am party.

Eisenkot stated that it is not necessary to form a government to achieve these goals, as he could take critical steps with a clear majority in parliament, supported by Arab parties. Eisenkot aims to establish a state inquiry commission regarding the October 7 attack, introduce mandatory military service for all Israeli citizens, and repeal the judicial reform laws enacted by the Netanyahu government. In his post, Eisenkot said, "Let no one be misled: In Israel, the government receives a vote of confidence from the parliament, not the other way around."
