Trump: Our goal is not to possess uranium in Iran, but to destroy it
U.S. President Donald Trump said regarding enriched uranium in Iran, “When we capture it, we will destroy it. Our goal is not to possess it, but to destroy it.”
U.S. President Donald Trump, following his meeting with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during the G7 Summit held in Evian-les-Bains, France, made evaluations regarding the Middle East agenda. Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz would be 'completely open' by June 19, saying, “Ships have started to move nicely in the Strait of Hormuz. The strait will remain open for free. Oil flow is resuming and prices are rapidly falling. The stock market is rising quickly. Very good things are happening and more importantly, Iran will not have nuclear weapons.”
Regarding enriched uranium, Trump stated that they are not in a hurry. He noted that he wants to establish an official framework before explaining the details of the agreement, saying, “They will not have nuclear weapons, and I can say that this meets about 99.9% of what I want because we could not allow this to happen.”
Trump claimed that the agreement is 'a very important document' unlike the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed during former U.S. President Barack Obama's term, stating, “That was a path to nuclear weapons. Mine is a wall against nuclear weapons.”
