Iranian Leader Khamenei: Despite Different Views, I Allowed Agreement with the US
Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated in his remarks regarding the peace memorandum signed with the US that he allowed the agreement to be signed despite having a different view.
Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a message to the Iranian people regarding the memorandum of understanding signed between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump. In his message, Khamenei stated that the relevant authorities worked with sincere effort and goodwill to reach this stage, saying, "Of course, it was the American president who used every means in desperation to achieve this."
Emphasizing that he had a different view on the agreement in principle, Khamenei said, "In principle, I had a different view; however, upon the commitment given to me by the President, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Supreme National Security Council, on behalf of himself and other members to protect the rights of the Iranian nation and the resistance front, and his clear acceptance of this responsibility, I gave my permission. He also clearly stated that they would not succumb to excessive demands from the American side."
Khamenei noted that from this moment on, they would wait with the Iranian people for the realization of these conditions, adding, "However, it is clear that future face-to-face negotiations will not mean accepting the enemy's views."
