First round of US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland concluded
Qatar and Pakistan reported that the first round of quadrilateral talks between the US and Iran in Switzerland's Bürgenstock town concluded in a positive atmosphere.

The Foreign Ministries of Qatar and Pakistan issued a joint statement regarding the talks. The statement noted that following the agreement signed between the US and Iran, the first round of quadrilateral talks involving the parties and mediator countries Pakistan and Qatar in Switzerland's Bürgenstock town was completed. The statement emphasized that the first day of the talks took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, and progress was made in various areas, including the establishment of a mechanism to continue technical negotiations.

The statement expressed that the parties agreed to establish a high-level committee to oversee the political aspects of the mediation efforts. It was highlighted that the chief negotiators would regularly report to the committee on nuclear issues as well as sanctions. Additionally, it was noted that a communication channel was established between the parties during the period specified in the fifth paragraph of the memorandum of understanding to prevent any incidents and misunderstandings, ensuring the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

As recorded in the memorandum of understanding, it was reported that the working group to be established to ensure the cessation of military operations in Lebanon would include Lebanon alongside the two parties.

The statement emphasized that the technical talks in Bürgenstock are planned to continue throughout the week, and that the mediator countries Qatar and Pakistan will continue their efforts to conclude the negotiations with a final agreement.
