Red alert issued in Belgium due to extreme heat
A red alert has been issued in the cities of Liege and Limburg in Belgium due to an extreme heat wave.

The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (IRM) announced that tomorrow, temperatures in the east of the country are expected to reach 40 degrees. The statement noted that a red alert will be in effect in Liege and Limburg tomorrow due to the extreme heat, while an orange alert will continue in the rest of the country at least until Saturday.

Under the red alert, municipalities and health institutions will activate their heat action plans, the conditions of the elderly and those living alone will be monitored, measures to protect outdoor workers will be increased, and citizens will be warned not to go outside during the hottest hours of the day.
