US Vice President JD Vance suggested that if the Watergate scandal that led to former US President Richard Nixon's resignation happened today, it would remain a '12-hour news story,' claiming that both Nixon and President Donald Trump were targeted by the 'deep state.'

US Vice President JD Vance introduced his new book at an event held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California. Expressing his admiration for Nixon in his speech, Vance said, “If the Watergate scandal happened tomorrow, it would be a 12-hour news story. The idea that this would lead to a president's removal is crazy.”

Vance claimed that there were similarities between the process that led to Nixon's resignation and the events during Donald Trump's first presidency, stating that the structures he described as the 'deep state' used similar methods against both leaders. Comparing himself to Nixon, Vance said, “A young senator, vice president, author of several best-selling books, hated by the media. This sounds a bit like JD Vance. I've always loved Richard Nixon.”
