Lebanese President Aoun and US President Trump Discuss Over the Phone

In a statement from the Lebanese Presidency's social media account, it was noted that President Joseph Aoun and US President Donald Trump spoke over the phone. It was conveyed that Trump congratulated Aoun on the framework agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel under US mediation. Trump stated that the US stands by Lebanon and the Lebanese people and will continue to provide the necessary support to re-establish security and stability in the country through the implementation of the agreement.

Trump emphasized that they will continue to support Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, saying, "We value the establishment of authority across the country through the Lebanese state's armed forces, the elimination of elements threatening the country's stability, and the support of President Aoun and the government's decisions. The US will provide support to Lebanon's economy and 'legitimate security' institutions."

It was reported that President Aoun thanked Trump for his support to 'Lebanon's legitimate administration, constitutional institutions, and security forces, especially the army.' Aoun stated, "The Lebanese state will fulfill its responsibilities regarding the implementation of the framework agreement."

Aoun, seeking support from the US to prevent the violation of the agreement and ensure the fulfillment of all agreed obligations, said, "Pressure for Israel to withdraw from the occupied areas in the south of the country will facilitate the deployment of the Lebanese army up to the international border."

At the end of the conversation, Trump expressed his expectation to meet with Aoun soon in Washington.
