Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi made an assessment on the agenda at his weekly press conference held in the capital, Tehran. Regarding French President Emmanuel Macron's statements about cooperating with partners to clear mines laid in the Strait of Hormuz, Bekayi said, "The issue of mine clearance in the Strait of Hormuz is Iran's responsibility. There is no need for others to intervene in this matter. Expressing an opinion on every issue does not mean taking responsibility."
Stating that they do not have a meeting program with the USA, Bekayi said, "Efforts to implement the article on the release of Iran's frozen assets continue, and we hope it will reach a conclusion. To start the negotiation process with the USA, the articles in the memorandum of understanding need to be implemented and these implementations need to be made permanent. As long as the other party fulfills their obligations, we will fulfill ours," he said.
Bekayi noted that expert teams will meet with the Qatari side in Doha today regarding frozen assets and also evaluated the latest attacks by the USA against Iran. Bekayi stated that they did not leave any initiative unanswered, saying, "Our armed forces are capable of responding to any kind of attack."
