Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez's Wife Requests Special Court Permission to Travel to Ankara

It has been reported that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's wife, Begona Gomez, requested special permission from the court to attend the NATO Summit in Ankara.

In Spain, Begona Gomez, the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who is being tried for four separate charges and has had her passport temporarily confiscated, has requested special permission from the court to accompany Sanchez at the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8. The Spanish press reported that Begona Gomez, through her lawyer, applied to the court to request permission to travel abroad from July 7-10 to accompany her husband Pedro Sanchez at the NATO Ankara Summit and to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony in London.

Begona Gomez, the first prime minister's wife in Spanish history to have her passport confiscated, is accused of 'using her influence, corruption in the business world, embezzlement, and abuse of office.'
