Venezuela's Interim President Delcy Rodriguez made a statement regarding the two major earthquakes in the country during a press conference held at La Carlota Air Base in the capital, Caracas. Rodriguez noted that the death toll from the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes has risen to 2,595, and the number of injured has reached 12,400. She also stated that search and rescue teams from 33 different countries are working on the ground.
Rodriguez mentioned that she has been conducting international diplomatic traffic following the earthquakes, saying, “In the first hours, I received calls from 72 heads of state and government.”
