It was reported that more than 2,000 deaths were recorded in France in one week due to the heatwave, compared to the average of previous years.
French Health Minister Stephanie Rist stated that there was a 30% increase in fatalities recorded in the week of June 22 compared to the previous week. Rist reported that due to the heatwave affecting the country, there were 2,025 excess deaths recorded from June 22 to 28 compared to the averages of previous years.
