Putin and Trump spoke on the phone
It was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump spoke on the phone.

Kremlin Foreign Policy Advisor Yuriy Ushakov stated that during the approximately 1.5-hour phone call, proposed by the US side, President Vladimir Putin congratulated President Donald Trump and the American people on their Independence Day. Ushakov noted that this was the fourth meeting between the two leaders this year, and that the conversation was business-focused and very constructive. Ushakov said, “Current issues on the bilateral and international agenda were openly discussed. The presidents touched upon the Ukraine issue, including Trump's participation in the NATO summit to be held in Turkey on July 7-8. US President Trump reiterated his readiness to facilitate the cessation of conflicts and find peaceful solutions to the crisis.”

Ushakov stated that Trump's Special Representative Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner would continue their mediation efforts and were ready to come to Moscow at an appropriate time, reiterating that the Russian side favored a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Ushakov emphasized that European leaders were making efforts to prolong the conflict, and mentioned that Putin explained to Trump the real situation on the battlefield and how the Russian army was safely taking over settlements one after another on the front line.

In the meeting, Ushakov highlighted that Putin conveyed his hope regarding the negotiation process under the memorandum of understanding reached between the US and Iran concerning the situation in Iran, and reported that Trump thanked the Russian side for its balanced stance and constructive proposals.
