NATO Secretary General Rutte's Message on Ankara Summit
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated in his final message at the headquarters in Brussels before the Ankara Summit that they will discuss credible spending plans to reach the new 5% target.

A video message from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding the Ankara Summit was shared on NATO's social media account. In his assessment from his office at the headquarters in Brussels, Rutte said, "You arrived just in time because I was about to set off. Many people in this building are going to Ankara."

Rutte stated that the two-day NATO Ankara Summit will 'largely focus on outcomes' and added, "We did a lot last year in The Hague, but now we need to fulfill the promises made there. This means spending. We will need to discuss credible spending plans to ensure all countries are on track to reach the 5% target. There are good developments regarding increased production in defense industries," he said.

Touching on the issue of Ukraine, Rutte stated, "It is necessary to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to remain as strong as possible in the struggle and, of course, to be in the best possible position when peace talks begin."
