French President Emmanuel Macron in Syria
French President Emmanuel Macron made an official visit to Syria ahead of the NATO Summit in Ankara.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by Syrian Foreign Minister Esad Sheybani at Damascus International Airport. Macron, who is the first French President to visit Syria since 2009, made a statement about his visit on his social media account.

Macron stated that he made the visit to convey France's support to the Syrian people, saying, "We are here for a sovereign Syria that maintains its unity in diversity and lives in peace with its neighbors. Let's open a new page together for stability and peace."
