Iran's Reaction to Germany on 'Strait of Hormuz'
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi said, “German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul's statement on the Strait of Hormuz is 'disgraceful'.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi, in a post on his social media account, described German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul's statement about the Strait of Hormuz as a 'distorted version of reality' and likened it to the words of the demonic character Mephistopheles in Goethe's Faust. Bekayi, who claimed that Germany played a role in attacks against Iran, said, "The German Foreign Minister's statements about the Strait of Hormuz are completely disgraceful. Germany should be held fully accountable for its complicity in military aggression against Iran and should bear the heavy cost of its active participation in the crime of aggression. No matter how aggressive the Berlin regime acts, it cannot escape its role in this illegal war and its responsibility for war crimes committed against the Iranian people," he said.

German Foreign Minister Wadephul had stated that Iran had 'illegally' mined the Strait of Hormuz, an international shipping route, and said that Iran should bear the cost of any international operation to clear the mines from the Strait of Hormuz.
