Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan–Jordan relations in the political, economic, trade, humanitarian, and other areas, as well as regional and international issues on the agenda.
The sides emphasized the importance of expanding the bilateral legal framework and making more effective use of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan to ensure the more systematic development of bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, the ministers signed the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the Mutual Abolition of Visa Requirements for Holders of Ordinary Passports," as well as the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."
The ministers also reviewed cooperation within multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, and expressed satisfaction with the partnership based on mutual trust and support.
During discussions on regional issues, the ministers reviewed the security situation in the Middle East. Emphasizing that the current crisis can only be resolved through political and diplomatic means, they expressed support for the ongoing dialogue and negotiation process.
Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his counterpart in detail on the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process, including the agreements reached during the historic Washington Summit in August last year and the current state of the peace process.
The ministers also exchanged views on the large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts underway in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, and the challenges posed by the mine threat.
