Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), has met with Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe. According to information provided by the company to AZERTAC, the meeting featured an overview of Azerbaijan’s energy strategy and the globally significant energy projects implemented at the country’s initiative. The sides discussed the favorable investment environment created in Azerbaijan, where stability and sustainable development successfully support the operations of foreign companies.
During the conversation, the Speaker was informed about SOCAR’s ongoing transformation from a national oil and gas company into an international energy company, as well as its multifaceted operations across the energy sector and the projects it is executing both in Azerbaijan and abroad.
The discussions also covered SOCAR’s green agenda, including renewable energy projects implemented jointly with partners and the company’s decarbonization targets. In addition, it was noted that, as part of its strong focus on digitalization, SOCAR is investing in new projects related to the establishment of data centers and the development of artificial intelligence. In this context, it was highlighted that three of SOCAR’s facilities have been recognized by the World Economic Forum’s Digital Lighthouse Network.
The parties also exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation across various segments of the energy sector, experience sharing, and other issues of mutual interest.
