Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the tension between the US and Iran can only end with an agreement reflecting the interests of all parties.
According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, as part of his African tour. Lavrov, who was received by Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, met with his Mozambican counterpart Manuela dos Santos Lucas. After the meeting, the two ministers held a joint press conference. In his speech here, Lavrov stated that they intend to develop and strengthen the strategic partnership with Mozambique. Lavrov, expressing support for the Mozambican government's efforts to eliminate the terrorist threat in the north of the country, said, "We provide various support to Mozambique, including personnel training, necessary weapons, and military equipment supply."
Speaking at the press conference about Ukraine, Lavrov said, "The West, trying to appear ready for negotiations, openly issues ultimatums to Russia. The West, revealing its hypocrisy, calls for resolving the crisis through negotiation. These solutions were provided with the assurance of the West in 2014, 2015, and 2019. However, each time the assurances given were destroyed by the West. The West also undermined the agreement reached between Russia and Ukraine in 2022. We do not believe the West wants a solution through negotiation. Our goodwill and hope on this matter have run out," he said.
Regarding Iran, Lavrov stated, "This issue can only be resolved with an agreement that reflects the interests of all parties. This agreement should include not only Iran, its neighboring countries, and the US but also all countries affected by the negative impact of the current situation on the global economy," he said.
