Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bekayi: Iran Did Not Request Negotiations with the US
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi denied claims that Iran had requested negotiations with the US, saying, "Iran has not made any such request."
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi responded to claims that the Tehran administration had requested negotiations with the US in a statement to the country's media. Bekayi denied the claims that Iran had requested negotiations with the US, stating that they had not made any such request. Bekayi noted that Iran's policy is still based on the principle of 'commitment for commitment' and that any violation of commitments by Washington would be met with retaliation by Iran. Bekayi said, "We have not made any request for negotiations with the US, but as part of our usual responsible approach, we did not reject the request of a regional mediator to come to Iran and discuss the latest situation."
Bekayi stated that the meeting was held yesterday in the city of Mashhad, adding, "We conveyed our views to the Qatari side."
