Arakçi: Security Breach in Hamaney's Death Likely Still Exists

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi made statements regarding the war process and negotiations between the US-Israel and Iran during a television program he attended. On the subject of negotiations, Arakçi said, “After the enemy completed its military preparations, they gave us the message that the uranium enrichment rate should be reduced to zero, otherwise the attacks would begin, and they requested negotiations. As a result, a decision was made to renegotiate. The main purpose of this decision was to prevent the later claim that 'if there had been negotiations, there would not have been a war.' The relevant institutions were sure that the war would restart. Therefore, we informed the Armed Forces to be prepared for war,” he said.

Arakçi stated that after the 12-day war, a 'Nuclear Committee' was established, saying, “Later, it turned into a negotiation committee. Issues related to the negotiations were discussed in this committee. All decisions taken went through the same approval process as the Supreme National Security Council decisions,” he said.

Regarding the attack on February 28, in which Iran's former leader Ayatollah Ali Hamaney lost his life, Arakçi said, “They knew that the leader was in the office every morning. As far as I understand, the command center meeting was also held two or three buildings away, and they chose that exact moment. The Ministry of Intelligence meeting was also being held at that time. Therefore, the attack on the leader's office occurred due to a security breach, and this breach likely still exists,” he assessed.
