The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the magnitude of the earthquake, which occurred 2 kilometers southwest of the city of Sicaya in Peru, was 5.5. The USGS reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. In a statement from the National Civil Defense Institute, it was stated that the death toll in the earthquake rose to 6, and the number of injured increased to 32. The statement noted that houses, health facilities, power transmission lines, and tourism infrastructure in the Chongos Bajo district were also damaged in the earthquake.
