UK Prime Minister Starmer officially resigns

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has officially resigned from his position. Labour Party leader Andy Burnham has received the mandate to form a government from King Charles III, officially becoming the new Prime Minister of the UK. With Starmer's departure, Burnham, who moved into 10 Downing Street, outlined the new government's priorities in his first speech. Burnham stated that he would pursue a more stable and responsible political approach, with combating the cost of living, accelerating economic growth, and improving public services being among the government's main priorities.

Former UK Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer delivered his final speech in front of 10 Downing Street. Starmer, who claimed to have led his party out of a historic defeat, stated that serving as Prime Minister was the 'privilege of his life.' He noted that the UK is now stronger, saying, "Since our victory in 2024, my sole aim was to serve my country as Prime Minister. Our international reputation is in a better position. I have closely observed all the will in my country. I wish success to my successor Andy Burnham. I want to thank my family and my team. I thank the British people for giving me this opportunity," he said.
