The Venezuelan Ministry of Health announced that it has been confirmed that three people have died from hantavirus in the eastern state of Anzoategui. The ministry also reported that two healthcare workers in the western state of Barinas have died from causes yet to be determined. It was noted that there is no connection between the deaths in Barinas and the confirmed hantavirus cases in Anzoategui, and that the two incidents are independent of each other.
