Bilateral trade turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan grew by more than 10% in the first five months of 2026, creating favorable conditions for further expanding bilateral economic cooperation, Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency, Report informs.
"Over the past two years, we have seen steady growth in trade turnover between our countries. In the current year, over its first five months, growth exceeded 10%. The momentum continues, and we have significant prospects for expanding mutually beneficial trade," the diplomat noted.
According to Husyev, Ukraine primarily exports agricultural products to Azerbaijan, while importing fertilizers, oil and petroleum products, as well as energy equipment used to restore damaged energy infrastructure.
Husyev emphasized that expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan carries strategic importance, as it supports the development of transit transport corridors and opens access for Ukrainian producers to the markets of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
"Ukrainian companies view Azerbaijan not only as an individual market, but also as a gateway to the markets of Central Asian countries," the ambassador noted.
He also stated that both sides continue working to develop transport routes in the Black Sea-Caspian region, including restoring ferry service between Ukraine and the South Caucasus, while also fostering cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
