On July 22, the next meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held under Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship at the administrative building of the CICA Secretariat in Astana.
The meeting highlighted the activity of Azerbaijan within the framework of its presidency of the CICA under the theme of "Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalization, and Sustainable Growth in Asia", on strengthening trust and expanding cooperation among member states.
The Azerbaijani delegation provided updates on the progress toward advancing transformation of the CICA into an international organization, including the progress of negotiations on the relevant draft Charter.
The event also included preliminary discussions on preparations for the CICA Summit set to be held in Baku this year, as well as possible draft final documents of the Summit proposed by the Azerbaijani Chairmanship.
Additionally, the meeting featured discussions on issues related to the development of the composition and structure of the CICA Secretariat, the expansion of its international partnerships, as well as concept documents related to priority areas for various dimensions of cooperation of the Conference in accordance with the Committee's agenda.
The participants also reviewed other issues of mutual interest in the CICA space, including its institutional development, initiatives within the framework, as well as the implemented events.
