Syrian President Ahmed Shara said, "Any chaos that may occur in Lebanon will directly reflect on Syria."
Syrian President Ahmed Shara stated in a statement to the Qatari press that any chaos in Lebanon would directly reflect on Syria. Noting that they have no intention of any military intervention in Lebanon, Shara said, “We are working on solutions with the Lebanese government that will help the country find a safe way out. The solution in Lebanon should not be solely security-focused. We support the idea that the state should be the sole authority on the use of weapons and decisions of war and peace in Lebanon."
Indicating that they are avoiding conflict with Israel, Shara said, “This will not provide any benefit for Syria. We are working to reach a security agreement with Israel with the participation of a group of countries. The success of the security agreement to be made with Israel could pave the way for a comprehensive peace without Syria giving up its rights over the occupied Golan Heights.”
