Chinese Military Attaché: Military cooperation with Azerbaijan is a vital part of bilateral relations

“The partnership between China and Azerbaijan, built on the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit, is developing successfully, with military exchanges and cooperation constituting a vital component of bilateral relations,” said Colonel Sun Zhong, Military Attaché of China to Azerbaijan, during a speech at an event commemorating the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The Colonel stated that the PLA was formed during a crucial period in the nation's history and has made significant contributions to strengthening China's independence, national development, and sustainable peace over the years.

According to him, the PLA has entered a new phase of modernization, with its core mission focused on safeguarding the country's sovereignty, security, and development interests, while simultaneously contributing to regional and global peace.

Sun Zhong noted that in recent years, the Chinese military has expanded cooperation with armed forces worldwide, actively participating in UN peacekeeping operations, international anti-piracy missions, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief.

"These efforts demonstrate China's resolve to join hands with other countries in addressing shared security challenges," the Military Attaché emphasized.

The Senior Colonel highlighted that military cooperation between China and Azerbaijan continues to develop consistently through high-level mutual visits, professional dialogue, military personnel training, and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

"These exchanges have further strengthened mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation," he noted.

Sun Zhong also commended Azerbaijan's role in promoting regional connectivity and international cooperation.

"As an important nation situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan makes valuable contributions to regional development and stability. We look forward to working together with Azerbaijan to further deepen our cooperation and make additional contributions to peace and prosperity both regionally and globally," the Military Attaché said.

He emphasized that next year will mark the centennial of the founding of the People's Liberation Army, and China will continue to foster cooperation with all countries based on the principles of peace, mutual respect, and shared development.

Concluding his speech, Sun Zhong invited guests to view a short video presentation prepared by the Chinese Embassy, noting that the clip provides attendees with a general overview of the PLA's training system.
