The death toll in the earthquake in Japan has risen to 28.
The government of Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan announced that 28 people have died and 62 have been injured in the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Kyushu Island. Prefecture officials reported that electricity could not be supplied to approximately 34,900 households, and water could not be supplied to 15,000 households. The Japan Spatial Information Agency stated that shifts up to 87 centimeters were detected on some surfaces due to the earthquake.
