17 people have died due to a diphtheria outbreak in Nigeria's northern Niger state.
Niger State Health Commissioner Murtala Bagana reported an increase in diphtheria cases in the state's Bida, Suleja, and Shiroro regions. Bagana stated that 124 diphtheria cases have been recorded in these areas, with 103 of these individuals discharged from the hospital. Bagana mentioned that 17 people have died due to the diphtheria outbreak, saying, “I urge the authorities to immediately contact the local administration to protect public health.”
