Iran: Southern corridor in the Strait of Hormuz closed

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, in a statement to the country's media, provided details about the agreement reached with Oman regarding the maritime transportation route in the Strait of Hormuz. Gharibabadi stated that an agreement was reached between Iran and Oman to activate a joint corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, which means the southern corridor has been closed.

Emphasizing that it was decided for the transportation route in the strait to be temporarily 7 miles wide, Gharibabadi said, “Oman has agreed to completely close the southern route. The Iranian Armed Forces do not allow passage through the southern route. This route is temporary and will be negotiated with Oman for a permanent route. The Strait of Hormuz is still closed, and Iran has full control over the strait. Claims that ships are passing through the strait do not reflect reality. Before any steps are taken to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the US must fully fulfill all its violated commitments. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz will only occur in exchange for ending the war on all fronts, lifting the blockade, and resolving the situation in Yemen,” he said.
