In Nigeria's Rivers State, 43 people died in a toxic gas leak during an oil theft attempt.
Nigerian media reported that a toxic gas leak occurred while many people were attempting to steal oil at Okari Wharf in the Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, and those affected by the gas were poisoned. It was reported that 43 people lost their lives, and some who fainted fell into the river and went missing.
Rivers State Police Spokesperson Agabe Blessing Karbalo stated that the deceased and poisoned individuals were involved in an oil theft attempt. An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
