Two workers trapped in a hydroelectric plant tunnel after last week's flood in Nepal were rescued alive after 9 days.
A new development has been recorded in the search and rescue operations initiated after the flood that occurred on August 26 in the Rasuwa region of Nepal. Two workers trapped in the tunnel of the Trishuli 3A Hydroelectric Power Plant project were rescued from the tunnel in an operation conducted by the Nepal Army and security forces. It was reported that the teams established contact after hearing sounds coming from inside the tunnel and reached the workers by opening the tunnel wall. The workers extracted from the tunnel were airlifted to hospitals in the capital Kathmandu for treatment. It was stated that the workers' health conditions are stable.
It was noted that search and rescue operations are ongoing, considering that there might be other people trapped in the tunnels in the region.
