Philippine media reported that a fire broke out for an unknown reason on a passenger ferry traveling from the capital Manila to the Coron region of Palawan province. Officials stated that 5 people died as a result of the ferry, which had 134 people on board, including 117 passengers and 17 crew members, catching fire. Officials noted that 42 people were rescued and announced that search and rescue operations for the missing 87 people are ongoing.
