Foreign Ministry: Two Azerbaijanis killed, two injured in drone attack on vessel in Black Sea

On September 9, a foreign cargo vessel named "TEDY", whose crew included Azerbaijani citizens, came under drone attacks in the Black Sea.

According to the press service of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijani citizens Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov were killed, while Imran Novruzov and Rauf Aliyev were injured in the incident. The injured individuals were hospitalized in Chernomorsk, Ukraine.

“Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating on this matter with the relevant state bodies of Azerbaijan, our country's diplomatic missions, and the competent authorities of the respective countries regarding this matter. Following the medical examination and treatment of our wounded citizens, measures are underway to repatriate them and provide necessary consular support, alongside organizing the required funeral procedures,” the ministry said.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

We once again urge citizens of Azerbaijan to refrain from travelling to areas where military operations are ongoing or where the security situation remains unstable, engaging in employment activities in such areas, or working on means of transport operating along these routes, including maritime vessels,” the MFA added.
