The European Central Bank raised its main interest rates by 25 basis points due to increasing inflation pressures, bringing the deposit rate to 2.50%.
In a statement from the European Central Bank (ECB), it was announced that for the second time this year, interest rates have been increased by 25 basis points. With the decision taken, the deposit interest rate, which guides the bank's monetary policy, was raised to 2.50%, while the main refinancing rate was increased to 2.65% and the marginal lending rate to 2.90%.
The statement emphasized that conflicts in the Middle East continue to exert inflationary pressure, with average inflation expectations projected at 3% for 2026, 2.5% for 2027, and 2.1% for 2028. The ECB revised its growth forecast for the Eurozone to 0.9% for 2026 and 1.4% for 2027.
