Arakçi: We Announced a Seven-Day Program, the Decision is America's
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi stated that they conveyed a seven-day plan to the US through Qatar for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, saying, "The decision is America's."
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi spoke at the 52nd Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Baghdad, Iraq's capital. Arakçi, who stated that they presented a program to the US through Qatar for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the normalization of navigation, said, "We announced a seven-day program, the decision is now America's. It cannot be expected for maritime security to return to normal by bombing a country, threatening to destroy it, and imposing a blockade."
Arakçi noted that Islamic countries need to keep solidarity and communication alive, saying, "Iran will defend its people, sovereignty, and legitimate interests. However, there is no contradiction between defending our rights and pursuing peace. We are aware of the damages caused by war, and therefore we value peace. Iran does not demand any privileges. It only wants rights and responsibilities to be applied equally to everyone," he stated.
