Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said, "The Lebanese military delegation will attend the trilateral meeting to be held in the US on October 20."
According to a written statement from the Lebanese Presidency, President Joseph Aoun received a delegation of ministers led by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot at the Baabda Palace. Thanking French President Emmanuel Macron for the decision to resume French commercial flights to Beirut and for his role in establishing a European mission to provide consultancy and support to the Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces for three years, Aoun said, "Israel is not complying with the provisions of the framework agreement reached in June under US auspices. The continuation of Israel's occupation in the south prevents the Lebanese army from deploying to the international borders in the south in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701."
Aoun emphasized that the Lebanese military delegation will attend the trilateral meeting to be held in Tampa, Florida, USA, on October 20, expressing hope that the delegation will achieve results consistent with the framework agreement. He conveyed their desire for the extension of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mandate, stating, "If this is not possible, we will welcome any formula that will ensure an international presence in the south."
French Foreign Minister Barrot stated that his country will continue to stand by Lebanon and provide support in all areas in cooperation with its European partners.
