Robert Mobili: Several churches in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories are being restored and protected as cultural heritage monuments

Azerbaijani continues its efforts to restore and protect historical monuments belonging to the Alban-Udi community and other Christian religious communities. Large-scale measures are underway in this regard, primarily in the liberated territories. Notable examples of these efforts are the Ganjasar Monastery Complex in Aghdara and Aghoghlan Monastery Complex in Lachin, Robert Mobili, the chairman of the Albanian-Udi Christian religious community in Azerbaijan, told AZERTAC.

According to him, churches are being restored either for community worship or for preservation as cultural heritage monuments and tourist attractions.

“Since there is currently no Christian community in Karabakh, there is no need to use them for worship. However, in the future, after the communities are restored, churches can be used for worship. The state is undertaking systematic efforts in this regard. For instance, churches in the villages of Talish and Sugovushan will be restored and given to our community for worship,” Robert Mobilli noted.

The community chairman emphasized that the main goal is to restore ancient religious monuments, and thus to contribute to preserving history, preventing its falsification, and safeguarding it for future generations.
