The Baku Book Center hosted a musical and poetic event dedicated to the Spring Festival, the Chinese New Year according to the lunar calendar and a symbol of happiness and family unity.
In her opening remarks, Director of the Baku Book Center Gunel Anargizi congratulated the guests on the upcoming holiday. She highlighted the rapidly developing Azerbaijani Chinese cultural relations, rooted in the traditions of the Great Silk Road and aimed at the mutual enrichment of cultures, as well as strengthening friendship and understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
Chargé d' Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan Ding Tao expressed his gratitude to the Baku Book Center and the Confucius Institute at the Azerbaijan University of Languages for organizing the poetry evening. On behalf of the diplomatic mission, he conveyed his sincere congratulations to the guests, wishing them spring joy, family happiness, and success in all their endeavors.
“2025 has been a fruitful year for China-Azerbaijan relations, building on past traditions and producing significant results,” the Chinese diplomat said. “Under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping of China and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, entering a new stage of high-quality, multi-faceted development,” the diplomat mentioned.
Other speakers at the event included Rafig Abbasov, Director of the Confucius Institute, and Kamala Mammadova, a Chinese language teacher at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). The speakers highlighted the important role traditional Chinese holidays in promoting interethnic cultural communication.
Following the remarks, the evening continued with a vibrant concert program. Participants recited poems in Chinese and performed songs and dances. The event also featured exhibits dedicated to Chinese calligraphy, wood carving, lacquer painting, and tea ceremony traditions. Guests had the opportunity to explore examples of ancient Chinese art.
