Azerbaijani experts benefit from Türkiye’s experience in restoration and conservation

An international experience exchange program titled “Turkic Restoration and Conservation Laboratories Network” was held at the initiative of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and hosted by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Azerbaijan was represented in the program by the Ministry of Culture, the State Tourism Agency, and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences. The event was also attended by the Institute’s leading researcher, PhD in History Jeyhun Eminli.

The project that features the cities of Ankara and Istanbul aims to share Türkiye’s advanced technical experience in the fields of archaeometry, restoration and protection of material and cultural monuments, including underwater archaeology with the participating countries, as well as to expand cooperation towards the joint protection of Turkic heritage.

Experts and researchers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary and Turkmenistan familiarized themselves with the activities of important scientific centers such as the Ankara Regional Restoration and Conservation Laboratory, Istanbul University Yenikapı Shipwrecks Application and Research Laboratory and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center.

The closing ceremony of the program was held at the historic Hekimbaşı Hunting Pavilion in the Ümraniye district.

President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Turkic World Foundation Nabi Avcı; Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı participated at the event.

The event concluded with presentation of certificates to the participants.
