On March 3, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum hosted the opening of the solo exhibition In Love with Beauty by renowned artist Jamila Hashimova.
Amina Melikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum; Gunay Efendiyeva, Deputy of the National Assembly and Deputy Chair of the Culture Committee of the National Assembly; Aghali Ibrahimov, Secretary of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan and People’s Artist; Kubra Aliyeva, PhD in Arts, Professor delivered speeches at the event. The speakers emphasized that Jamila Hashimova’s creative path, rooted in national traditions yet enriched with modern artistic thinking, occupies a distinctive place in Azerbaijani fine art.
During the event, a carpet-cutting ceremony was held in the museum’s Traditional Technology Department. The carpet titled The Road, woven based on Jamila Hashimova’s work, was cut from the loom in accordance with ancient traditions.
Within the framework of the event, the animated film Hidden Wings, which complements the idea of the exhibition, was screened, and a poem was recited in the author’s own voice. At the same time, Honored Artist Elnara Kabirlinskaya performed piano pieces for the guests.
It should be noted that the exhibition, organized with the aim of presenting the author’s rich artistic world, individual creative style, and aesthetic vision to a wide audience, features nearly 50 works of painting and graphic art. Central motifs in the artist’s oeuvre include female figures in various states, flowers, birds, and natural forms. A luminous palette, soft tonal transitions, and refined attention to line and detail shape the exhibition’s visual poetics.
In the work The Road, which occupies a special place in the project, the depicted cityscape, houses, and the figure of a person in motion carry symbolic meaning. In this piece, the unity of traditional weaving technique and the author’s modern perspective finds harmonious expression.
Jamila Hashimova has held solo exhibitions in Rome, Paris, Sofia, Brussels, Berlin, and other cultural centers. Her works are preserved in museums and private collections internationally. In Love with Beauty marks another significant cultural event, demonstrating the maturity and consistency of the artist’s distinctive style.
