The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijani Literature Section was held at the National Széchenyi Library in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Dávid Rózsa, Director-General of the National Széchényi Library, emphasized that cultural cooperation between Hungary and Azerbaijan has developed significantly in recent years. He highlighted the importance of the opening of the Azerbaijani Literature Section at the National Széchenyi Library in fostering cultural dialogue and cooperation between the two peoples.
According to him, such projects enhance mutual understanding between peoples, bringing common values to the fore.
Dávid Rózsa underlined that in recent years, with the support of the Azerbaijani side, the library's fund has been enriched with Azerbaijani publications and currently more than 150 Azerbaijani books are presented to readers, providing a thorough overview of the country’s history, literature, and culture.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Hungary Tahir Taghizade described the opening of the Azerbaijani Literature Section as a clear manifestation of strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries. The diplomat noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary have been developing dynamically across all areas, especially in the cultural sphere, in recent years. The ambassador underscored that such initiatives are crucial in enhancing mutual understanding between peoples.
In his remarks, Director of the Azerbaijan National Library, Professor Karim Tahirov stated that this initiative is yet another important indicator of friendly relations and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary. “Libraries not only serve as information centers, but also important cultural centers that preserve the historical memory, as well as national and spiritual values of peoples,” he further mentioned.
Dr. Ádám Imre Szűcs, Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, said this initiative marks a significant milestone in advancing cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Hungary.
Máté Vincze, Deputy State Secretary for Public Collections and Cultural Development at the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovations, mentioned that the opening of the Azerbaijani Literature Section contributes to further strengthening friendly relations between Hungary and Azerbaijan.
The event brought together representatives from the cultural and scientific communities of both countries, alongside intellectuals.
