3 cultural heritages nominated for UNESCO
ANKARA, (DHA)- Ministry of Culture and Tourism has nominated three more cultural heritage elements to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for consideration at the 20th Intergovernmental Committee Meeting on Intangible Cultural Heritage to be held in 2025.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, the works carried out with the vision of sharing the magnificent examples of Turkey's rich intangible cultural heritage with all humanity through UNESCO, emphasizing the richness of Anatolian culture, explaining and promoting the tourism values carried by intangible cultural heritage elements to the whole world, and protecting and transferring the ancient cultural heritage of ancestors to future generations continue. Within the scope of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, to which Turkey became a party in 2006, three separate candidate files were prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's General Directorate of Living Heritage and Cultural Activities to be evaluated next year.

In this context, the 'Antepi Embroidery', which is made by counting and pulling threads on white fabric, 'Traditional Felt Making' and 'Traditional Methods of Yogurt Making and Related Social Practices', which are created by fusing the flakes on animal fibers such as wool by friction due to temperature, humidity and pressure, were submitted to UNESCO for inclusion in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. 'Antep Embroidery' was submitted to the UNESCO Secretariat as a national file, 'Traditional Methods of Yogurt Making and Related Social Practices' was submitted with the participation of Bulgaria under the moderation of Turkey, and 'Traditional Felt Making' was submitted to the UNESCO Secretariat as a multinational file under the moderation of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkey. Turkey is the second country with the highest number of cultural values with 30 cultural heritage items registered in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
