US President Donald Trump asserted Monday that the federal government maintains extensive oversight authority over artificial intelligence companies, claiming that a coordinated campaign in the US against technological infrastructure primarily benefits China.
"The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a strong and smart (high IQ!) president, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, hitting back against growing calls for increased regulation of the sector.
The US president argued that his administration has intervened to prevent tech executives from pursuing potentially damaging initiatives, singling out Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei for "pretending to be a 'perfect little angel'" amid escalating industry debates over the pace of AI development.
Trump said Washington holds "tremendous criminal and regulatory power" over tech enterprises, alleging that critics are waging a "sick conspiracy" targeting artificial intelligence systems and data centers that only satisfies Chinese interests.
Warning against what he called "conspiracy theorists, treasonists, traitors, and leakers," Trump affirmed that the US leads global competitors and will maintain dominance because "whoever wins AI, wins!"
Trump later claimed the "only reason" for the debate over AI and data centers is that the US is "leading, by a lot, every other country."
"Don’t kill the Golden Goose," he added.
In separate posts, US President Donald Trump continued to defend the development of AI technology and data centers, dismissing concerns about their potential risks.
“The people that say AI is going to destroy the World, and that Data Centers are bad for your neighborhood, are the same people that said, just a short time ago, that the World would be extinguished by ‘Climate Change.’ That HOAX never worked out for them, and now they’re on to the next one,” Trump wrote.
“These people are Revolutionaries, but Revolutionaries for a Bad and Evil Cause,” he said, accusing opponents of data centers of working for those “that do not have the best interests of the United States in mind!”
In another post, Trump called himself the “hoax buster” while again rejecting warnings about AI.
"I am the Hoax Buster, and I’m right now breaking another Hoax — That AI is going to take over, consume, and destroy the World, and that Robots will be marching into our Cities, and getting rid of us all!"
"This is even wilder than the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, or the Global Warming Scam," he said.
