As part of its visit to Azerbaijan, a delegation of the Turkish Journalists’ Association visited AZERTAC on July 29.
The delegation first viewed photos showcasing the participation of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva in press-related events, the addresses of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief to the people during the Patriotic War, and their visits to the liberated regions, as well as exhibits displaying technical equipment used by AZERTAC over the years.
During the meeting held at the agency, the sides particularly emphasized the contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the establishment and development of relations between the media organizations of the brotherly countries.
The Turkish journalists received information about the history of AZERTAC, its remarkable development, its international relations, and its cooperation with Anadolu Agency. The meeting highlighted that AZERTAC, whose first news was published on March 2, 1920, currently exchanges news with information agencies from 54 countries based on official partnership agreements. The agency has 25 correspondent stations in 24 countries.
Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Journalists’ Association Ali Oruç noted that media representatives from the two brotherly countries actively cooperate within the framework of the Journalists Association of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Alliance of Turkic News Agencies.
The meeting also highlighted the “9th Village” project implemented by the Turkish Journalists’ Association. The meeting noted that many Azerbaijani students studying in Türkiye receive journalism training through this project and gain hands-on experience.
Media representatives toured AZERTAC’s editorial offices and were informed that news is published daily in Azerbaijani, Russian, English, German, French, Arabic, Chinese, and Spanish on the agency’s information platforms, accompanied by photo and video materials.
The delegation also visited the memorial corner dedicated to martyred AZERTAC journalist Maharram Ibrahimov. They were given detailed information about the life and professional activities of their fallen colleague.
