The governor's office of the state of Nayarit announced that the passenger bus, which rolled into the cliff yesterday morning, had set off from the capital Mexico City with 42 people on board and was travelling towards the city of Tijuana. Authorities stated that 18 people, including 3 children, died in the accident and the injured were being treated at the hospital.
Stating that the bus was planned to cross the border to the USA after Tijuana, the authorities said that there were passengers from various countries in Africa and the Dominican Republic among the passengers. The bus driver was detained after treatment and the cause of the accident was under investigation.
